The MSU ITS Service Desk is looking for
Student Workers & Graduate Students!
The MSU ITS Service Desk is accepting resumes and cover letters from potential Student Workers and Graduate Students. Applicants must be currently enrolled or are registered for the upcoming semester.
The ITS Service Desk is usually the first contact that MSU students and employees make when they have IT related issues. These issues include things like problems with email, Canvas, classroom technology (the lecterns in many classrooms), our network, or questions about Duo, etc. In addition to this, we also act as the Campus Telephone Operator (transferring calls, etc.).
We have two locations: 1) the Service Desk in 108 Allen Hall, and 2) the Call Center on Morgan Street. The Call Center does not see walk-in clients.
The ITS Service Desk is open the following hours (with some exceptions):
- Monday-Thursday 7:30am – 12:00am (Walk-ins from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm)
- Friday 7:30am – 5:00pm (Walk-ins from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm)
- Sunday 1:00pm – 12:00am (Walk-ins from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm)
Our Graduate Service Assistants work the afterhours shifts (Sundays from 1:00 PM to Midnight and Monday through Thursday from 5:00 PM to Midnight) plus additional time to make the required 20 hour/week.
Student Workers work with the GAs during the afterhours shifts and work during the normal office hours. Student Workers are usually limited to 20 hours/week (during the summer semesters and between semesters Student Workers can work up to 32 hours/week). Student Workers can work less than 20 hours/week. We do have set schedules based on when the student can/wants to work. We understand that the primary job for a Student Worker is to be a student and we try to be flexible when it comes to schedules around exams and schoolwork. The Service Desk Student Workers make minimum wage ($7.25/hour when this was written). All Student Workers are not required to work extended shifts; however, we must have someone who can work those hours.
