Mississippi State University has a site license for IBM SPSS Amos that allows it to be installed on any university-owned computers when used for teaching or non-commercial purposes. In addition, Student, Faculty and Staff home use on personal equipment is included at no additional cost.
IBM SPSS Amos installations on university-owned computers for any other purpose, including administrative use require separate licenses to be purchased.
After requesting a copy of SPSS Amos for download, you will see the license code. Please make a note of this code as you will need it during for the installation of SPSS Amos to license the software.

If you are having an issue installing SPSS Amos or activating the license, please open a service request so that we can assist you. Feedback should be about the formatting or information provided of the KB (knowledge base) article. It should not be about not being able to install due to an error.
Important: Administrator access required
To install this program, you will need Administrator access. If you are using an MSU-inventoried computer and do not have local administrator access, you will need to have your ITS Desktop Services Specialist to install SPSS AMOS for you.
Installation Instructions
- Double-click on the application file located in the SPSS AMOS 30 for Windows named SPSSA_30.0.0_MW_ML.exe.

- Click Next.

- Click the option for "I accept the terms in the license agreement." Click Next.

- It is not advised to change the default destination folder. Click Next.

- Click Install.

- Installing IBM SPSS AMOS 30...

- Click the check box to "Start IBM SPSS Amos 30 now." Click Finish.

1. Open your Start menu, click All to view all your installed apps, click the IBM SPSS Amos folder, then click IBM SPSS Amos 30 License Authorization Wizard.

NOTE: When running the License Authorization Wizard, Click Yes if you receive the following pop up. You will get this notice even if running with Admin by Request.

2. Click Next.

3. Choose the first option: Authorized user license. Click Next.

4. Enter the code you were given right before downloading the software. Note: Software flash drives have a license file - AMOS 30 Authorized Code.txt. Click Add, then click Next.

5. SPSS Amos should now be licensed. Click Next, then click Finish to exit the license wizard.
There is currently a known issue that can prevent the normal licensing process from succeeding. If you receive a message stating Authorization Failed, click Next, then follow the instructions to send an email to the address provided. Another code will be sent to you within a few minutes via email. Copy that code, then start the licensing process again at step 1, pasting it in at step 4. The authorization should succeed at that point. Contact the ITS Service Desk if you are still unable to license SPSS Amos after trying this.
