
Microsoft SharePoint is a web-based platform that allows users to store and collaborate on documents and other information. SharePoint works with Microsoft Teams to provide organization for shared documents.
SharePoint also supports standalone sites that are not linked to a Team. A recent security enhancement related to standalone SharePoint sites requires that requests for new standalone sites be submitted to ITS for review and creation.
Note: Information on standalone SharePoint sites is accessible by anyone with a MSU m365 account.
Individuals may create teams in Microsoft Teams to share data. When a team is created, a SharePoint site is automatically created to store files. See this article for more information about Microsoft Teams.
