This tool supports upcoming changes to YouTube’s API and ensures that any YouTube videos or embedded content in Canvas continue working without interruption. It helps instructors migrate or re-authorize videos so they remain visible to students. This was enabled proactively before the API update goes into effect.
Parchment Badges
This tool supports digital credentialing and badges. Some programs use Parchment to issue micro-credentials, course completion badges, or co-curricular achievements. Enabling the tool makes it available for departments or instructors who plan to use digital credentials in the future.
Why they appeared without notification
These tools were part of a global Canvas update from the vendor, so they were deployed at the account level rather than added individually to courses by instructors. Because they’re system-level tools, they appear in course navigation automatically.
