Continuing Courses at MSU - Faculty Instructional Technology Resources

Summary

Many circumstances can require classes to go temporarily online on short notice. To accommodate these temporary breaks in face to face instruction, an instructor can move to online instruction via Canvas and other instructional technologies, the following resources are available at MSU to continue instruction. These options are intended to bridge the gap to temporarily maintain course continuity.

Training Available: Multiple training opportunities are available to help teaching faculty make this transition including 60 minute hands on workshops, webinars and personal one on one instruction (Canvas Corner). Registration is required and is availalbe at the sites below:

Make recorded lectures
Asynchronous instructional videos can be very effective in online instruction. MSU provides two tools to easily create videos.

  • Benefits of asynchronous lectures

    • Allows for students to access course at a time that is most convenient for them

    • Lecture and materials can be posted for students to access anytime

Studio (formerly known as ARC)
this tool allows you to create quick instructional videos to be disseminated in your course quickly

During a temporary break in face to face instruction, synchronous meetings may still be needed in the form of office hours or class meetings. WebEX is available at MSU to host both office hours and class meetings.
