ITS Empowers Campus Community with Web Accessibility Education
Mississippi State University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) is committed to fostering an inclusive digital environment for all students, faculty, and staff. To achieve this, ITS has launched an initiative to educate the campus on creating web-accessible documents—ensuring that digital content is usable by individuals of all abilities.
Web accessibility is essential for providing equal access to information and resources. Accessible documents allow individuals with disabilities—such as those using screen readers or assistive technologies—to fully engage with course materials, administrative
ITS is using a multi-faceted approach to make accessibility education convenient and effective:
- Live Webinars
Interactive sessions provide hands-on guidance on best practices for creating accessible documents in platforms like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and PDF. Participants can ask questions and receive real-time feedback. (Latest recorded webinar.)
- Recorded Trainings
For those unable to attend live sessions, ITS offers recorded webinars and tutorials. These resources are available on-demand, allowing users to learn at their own pace.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of these resources to ensure their materials meet accessibility standards. By working together, we can create a more inclusive campus where everyone has equal access to information.
