ping - 26-01: Basic Troubleshooting Tips

Body

Restart Your Computer

A reboot clears memory and resets processes that may be causing issues.

Verify Power and Cables

Confirm that all power cords, peripheral cables, and adapters are securely plugged in. Loose connections can cause hardware malfunctions. Try another port or outlet for power issues.

 Check Network Connection

Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Test by opening a website or running a speed test from fast.com.

Clear Cache and Temporary Files

Clearing browser cache or temporary system files can resolve issues related to slow performance or page loading errors.

If you are using Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox you can quickly clear cache with a keyboard shortcut. While in your browser, press Ctrl + ShiftDelete simultaneously on the keyboard to open the delete browsing history window.

Check for Updates

Make sure your operating system is up to date. Updates often include bug fixes and security patches. For Windows, click the Windows button, Settings, then Windows Update. For Mac, click System Settings, General, then Software Update

Close Unnecessary Programs

Too many open applications and browser windows can slow down your system or cause crashes. Close unused programs and check if performance improves.

Any Recent Changes

If you have recently added a new USB device or adapter, try removing it and see if issues persist.

Test on Another Device

If possible, check whether the issue occurs on another computer or device. This helps determine if the problem is device-specific or network-related.
